When we had time to squirrel hunt, we used Gracie and CeeCee to retrieve the squirrels for us. It has been a few years since me and mom had time to go. Last year though CeeCee spotted one on the hill and let mom know. Mom shot it for her and let her retrieve it to brush up on her skills. Happiest dog ever when she came back off the hill with her toy.
I know she was not bred for it, and with her mix of breeds she would not be a dog I would peg for the job. CeeCee has turned out to be a very good "farm dog". She protects her flock, the entire neighborhood, kids, and is a killer of possums and rats.
That said, I would never, ever, take her to another property that had Livestock. She is good with all horses though. Someone else's chickens, goats or cows, we will not find out.
