I purposely petted each of the chooks (except for the game fowl fam) to see if everyone is dry. They seem okay for tonight and I counted them three times so I don’t miss anyone.
I also put the feed from the sacks into buckets to prevent moisture and spoilage.
My bucket list 🤣 hahaha 😝
I use plastic trash bins for my feed, ones with wheels. I load up on feed to last a couple weeks.

Keeps the feed dry and keeps out vermin. Note to self: stop burying the feed scoop at the bottom of the bin when you pour the feed into the bin!

Still watching the sunset last night

🤔 So should I wear a mac? a bikini or a thick coat and long John's?
Wear the bikini under your long Johns. Wear the thick coat over your long johns. Sheesh, do I have to think of everything? :th
And today is Friday, so go buy yourself a herring!

Oh, and here's the very late twofer. Mozzarella refuses to show her face and Grandma looks very sophisticated, almost as if she has had enough of me taking photos of her and were to say "I'm too good at this."

That growth doesn’t seem to be bothering her. The eye isn’t weeping or half closed etc. I would say just keep an eye on it, at her age there isn’t much you can do with it anyways.

If flies bother it you will need to put her someplace where they won’t irritate it. But it looks like she is not bothered by it.

Good morning Kelly :frow waving to you from UK
Greetings from the Dominion of Canada - where it is FINALLY looking like Spring - at least here in the eastern half, +14C tomorrow :celebratecan you tell I am eggcited!

Poor @LhickenChicken though is still having winter in Alberta.

I am gonna drag out the lawn chair and sit and watch the chooks with a cuppa tea 🥰🥰🥰

40-50 f is the temperature this time of year
That’s nice temps when it’s not raining…. But damp when it is. I think the chooks should be fine, the babies are who I would worry about. They are smaller, but hopefully they can snuggle together for warmth.

I have always found that they handle cooler weather better than hot weather, of course extremely cold is another thing. But thankfully it’s warming up out there!

If you get a chance post a photo of Nacho ♥️

Only eclipse I want to watch, is my eyelids closing for the day!
Up at 4 out to the barn by 4:20, caught the tail end of the eclipse. It is a nice morning here chilly at -6C but no wind and no SNOW. The moon and stars where gleaming, and for once the horses and chooks were behaving.

I am waiting for the Tylosin my Vet has ordered for me to arrive today. I am planning on dosing the whole flock, I think it’s a three day course of treating the water. And a zero day egg withdrawal. But I always hold back eggs when I treat for anything for the days treated and day after for any zero day withdrawal.

The horses and chooks seem happy that it’s not freezing and they can sit on the sun, roll around in the dirt ♥️

Layers that’s the way to go!

Like Muffy and Tippy, layering to keep warm, and then remove layers if too warm.
