Answer: gloves, long sleeves and motivation! :barnie
There are leather gloves that go up to the elbow which are a great help. The chickens get bored when I prune trees. They're only interested when I trowel garden beds ~ worms & grubs or a good dustbath!

Happy Thirsty Thursday everyone.
It is Sylvie’s week for photos and here she is sampling the wild water from the rain chain.
Such a connoisseur!

I think she must have given it a 99 because others joined in shortly after.

Thank goodness it is raining today so I have an excuse not to go out and keep tackling the wild roses. I am quite injured from yesterday’s attempts (blood was flowing freely) and sadly don’t have much to show for it.
That's wild or climbing roses for you! One was already planted here when I bought the place & prior owners planted the climber right at the chainlink fence bottom so that the branches grew through the chainlink wire all gnarly & un-cuttable! However our 1st flock did enjoy its shade... the White Leghorn is the only color to show well under the bush. Years later when the chainlink got replaced w/ a block wall it took a Bobcat to bulldoze the bush!
