And just think of the huge barn I could have to house all my new chooks!

It’s trash day, but the birds don’t care. They got into a bag of corn husks and spread them back out all over the yard, right after I raked them up ready to throw the bag away (I was in the house, only gone 10 minutes) disaster struck!!

Our tribe likes to "help" me do yard work too... takes me 3x longer w/ them messing up the leaves & pruned branches I just put in a pile I don't have time for this between garden harvesting, freezer canning, therapy appts, & yard work I'm missing pages & pages on here! But, I wouldn't trade a minute w/them... the newest littles I discovered today have all learned their individual names when I call. When a hen hears her name her head perks up in recognition & comes to me. It's like having 6 puppies following me around all morning.

The two are bald cats and Bill is overweight. They have a special diet apparently!

This little bebe is not doing well. It keeps closing it's eyes and crawls away from the others, which is sad. I spent some time snuggling and drying it off inside my shirt because it got stomped all over.
This is the one whose leg was stuck under the wing and couldn't kick out of the egg.

Special needs babies have a way of becoming "house" chickens... & become incredible snugglers This baby had deformities & didn't live long but we committed to her as a house chicken & did our best to always be w/her & take her w/us when we left the house or she'd cry alone.
