nvm a different black hen made all barred children
Yeah it takes a bit to get used to for sure but still handy for playing what ifs.

I’ll admit that my gut reaction to these sweet babies is not 100% favorable but I think it’s only because my brain says something is amiss and I wanna help 🤣 but of course these 2 are in perfect health and uniquely beautiful.

What a fascinating breed.
 
speaking of, If you have a barred roo and some RIR hens, buff orps, Lord only knows the breed black chickens, and no barred hens, what breed hen would the barred roo have to do to get a identical barred baby
Any. The barring would go to all the babies and black tends to be dominate. There might be some color leakage as adults but all the chicks should be (I say should due to odd exceptions can occur) single barred fluff balls.
