So cute. Gentles together 💕

Unless we're leaving the house we don't have the heart to make ours go outside.

I see they have you well trained 🥰

We use rounded edge children's scissors... plus w/ two of us one holds the Silkie while the other holds the head while trimming. Neither of us handles trims alone! Mika is the only one we trim cuz she won't allow the other Silkies to pluck her eyebrows. Silkies, at least ours, trim each other's faces so we don't have to groom them.

My gangs only has eyes for Mr P’s feathers 🤨 I have seen them picking at Clyde’s face and head pin feathers also, but he thumps them if they draw blood. Thankfully he’s dark enough the blood doesn’t stand out on him.

I heard someone on BYC used an electric razor to clip her sulkie’s topknots.

I am excited to do Twofer Tuesday for the first time!
Here's my buff Orpington Jane and her (usually) friend Abigail dust bathing together.
After that is the queen dust bathing alone. I tell her you have to be a friend to have a friend. She says she doesn't need no stinking friends.
Last is my poor Louisa, who is allowed to observe the dust bath but not participate in the vicinity.
That's not their coop, in the background, that is the original prefab coop for Mirabel and two Polish which is now used for the nest boxes and to perch on and poop on. That's about all it's good for anyway.

Is it any surprise that Mr. Chips has a crush on her?!
Not at all, what a looker!
Here’s tonight’s roosting, showing Hazel near but not really in the poop danger zone.
Annie’s on the ledge looking and saying, “Oh, excuse my butt back there!”

Hazel says, “All good, I like the warmth,” and so they both tuck in

Hattie has such a sweet face! (Or had, I guess. I haven't seen her mentioned lately.)
A lavender Orpington is high on my wish list when building projects are complete.

Oh you should try and get some, I have 3 Buff Orpington and 1 Lavender Orpington - I would love another Lavender. All of the Orpington are very sweet, I bought mine because I really like Hattie’s temperament, she a very sweet sensible hen.

Oh you should post you queen’s photo in the thread ‘this chicken is not dead’.

I’ll try to find the link for you, great fun looking at the photos!

I'm trying to be responsible and only get more chickens when their coop and additional run is built. And hopefully enough fencing and netting that they can really get out and forage and be chickens.
My seven younger chickens lived in a brooder in our guest room far too long. It was sad. ( I did get them out every day for exercise. It was craziness.)
Funny story - there is no longer carpet in that room because they busted out one day when I was at work. I heard a strange tapping at the door when I was walking down the hall and opened the door to see a horror show of poop. We cut the carpet, rolled it up and threw it away. It was old anyway.
So I'm determined to only get chickens that already have their accommodations built, not just promised.
