Well they could just feed it a bit, maybe a few more will appear and there will be a feral population? Like our turkeys, or the peacocks plaguing my cousin in Surrey? Lol, or should it be dun, dun , dunnnn!

It really is well suited to this in this climate, and has been living here for years. It's covering several miles a day. We still have a lot of corn and soybeans standing so it won't want for food.

Apparently they have a pair of Emus and it looks like the female returned home, but the male is the one out roaming.

Oh gosh, that had me giggling. Hubby had to adk what was so funny. My answer? “Chicken stuff.”
I offered a LIVE mouse to my Buckeye, Ruby, once knowing they are known for being good mousers and she also did the Bawk, bawk baek, bawk alarm call with her neck stretched tall and head tilted sideways. The mouse took off and hid under a vehicle.
I should have offered it to Bridge, my Barred Rock who swallows lizards snd snakes whole. LOL.
Bridge would definitely have been a better choice.

Thank you for the lovely big update. There is always something going on in your neck of the woods. Have you managed to keep Gus from trying to roost in the chicken trailer again? How did you do it?

I'm sorry to hear about your friend :hugs. Isolation can be particularly hard on a lot of people. Please look after yourself too. Good on your DH for his support.👍
Also Happy Birthday to him!

Here are a couple of chicken signs that you might enjoy.
This one is appropriate for your egg business.

And this is more of a chicken fan club sign.

I especially like that second one. :thumbsup

Oh, I know he has decided I am good food bringer, the one who scritches the chin and ears, and am not exactly “herd” but as close to it as a two leg can get... I am actually afraid that the in-laws might get hostile to me in front of him, as animals are far better readers of body language than humans...
That is something to be concerned about. You really don't want that incident on your hands. An upset bull is not something to be trifled with.

It needs a mysterious name now. Like Nessy........or is that Nessie, I digress.

Maybe Emmie? You could then tell all the city folk (you know people from where I live) "Be careful, you don't want to run across Emmie when out in the woods" You could do bumper stickers "I've seen Emmie". You could wind up with a Discovery Channel program, "The Hunt for Emmie" or "The Legend of Emmie.

You guys need to hop on this gravy train before it is too late.
Ok, it is a he. So, Emmit? That's not great. Not mysterious enough, anyone else have a name suggestion?

One thing I do is schedule a mid-day ‘go outside’ break rain or shine or snow or hail.
Even 20 mins in the woods or with the chickens lifts the spirits.

I do this every day at lunch. I go out to my car, recline my seat, and sit with my eyes closed. It really helps me get through the day. While I do work in the medical field, and an eye doctor's office is pretty low risk, it's still quite stressful.
