Opened my front door to grab a shirt I left hanging on the gate and startled a little family of what I think were nutria seemingly snacking on my lawn. I haven't seen one in years, and never in any yard of mine. We live relatively close to a drainage area, but farther then I would think they would usually wander. They were kind of cute, though most people just call them water rats. Wish I could have snapped a pic, but they zoomed away.
Very cool. I love to see wildlife like that.

Happy Friday

Yikes - what is this?!
This showed up on the coop rodent-cam last night. What is it? I am thinking either Opossum or Porcupine - but I have never seen either up close so not sure.
Honestly looks like an alien being to me!
The Chicken Palace defenses were more than a match thank goodness.

I’ve been having quite a bit of running at each other, hackles up and standing off beak to beak with Belle and Snow (my 2 11ish week old pullets)
I’m assuming this is them working out the pecking order after Big Bad Bokky (ISA hen)?
First time integration for me so observing and learning what these interactions mean. They are thick as thieves all day but then randomly one will flap along the ground at the other and start the ‘chest bumping’ almost.
My Buckeyes did a lot of that at that age and older as they were growing up & they grew up together. 24+ weeks old now

This is very sad. I'm very sorry I brought this hoax to everyones attention.

Apology Tax
Don't feel bad! Even stories like this bring attention to the truly awesome birds that pigeons are. As you said, when the truth comes out people learn more about them. There have been some incredible but confirmed returns such as one from SA to somewhere in UK if I recall correctly. It took months though.

I think that is a skunk. I've had them on my cams many times.

I have to admit, I do now think pigeons are pretty cool.
