I'm in Utah. Mine have done well in minus degrees.. having said that..I used to use lamps. Nor this year. It's gotten down to teens with them doing fine.
It's not the temp put the rapid drop in temperature that is really bad for them. It was in the 70s there a few days ago. Our flocks tribes have time to grow extra feathers and adapt to the slow change in temperature. Her's have not. They will be fine if she can keep them out of the wind but she needs a wind proof shelter for them.

I have no way to keep them in the roosting area as it is open to the run.. I am keeping them in the run but that is open all around...
Here are our temps now... View attachment 2531653
Can you block the windward side of the run somehow? Blankets, towels, anything to give them shelter from the wind? Hay bales will work if you stack them.

Still Monday here, so...Mugs

I love Drummie, but tonight he was just a big idiot. I looked out about 30 minutes before dark this evening and saw he was getting up on the roost. 5 minutes ago I hear him crow, ok that is odd after dark so I flipped on the barn light. To my surprise Drummie is not on the roost. It is pouring rain so out I go to find him. The idiot got down and was perched on top of the doghouse, soaking wet. The rain is supposed to start changing over to ice soon as the temp drops so now even though he's back on the roost and out of the elements i'm going to be paranoid about frostbite on his comb and wattles.
You could blow dry the idiot. Mine love the blow drier on low.

What I remember of Utah is a special winter night. Me and my family were traveling thru and had to stop. A nice lady opened her home to us all that night. (We had no idea where else to go) thank you wonderful Mormon lady who took us in.
That's a wonderful story. The good in human beings on display. 🥰

That’s not so bad. You don’t need to lock them in just so they can get out of the wind if they want. Mine go out down to single digits but do spend most of the day inside.
