Take them NOW!!! Don't miss this opportunity.
I'm good with waiting 3 weeks. He doesn't HAVE to get rid of them, he just knows my obsession with Marans. Beifielders *I can NOT spell or pronounce that name* are his passion. He's had them in the past and loved them, when they died off he got Marans to see if he liked them. He likes them, but is not in LOVE with them. And in general doesn't prefer feathered feet. So its a perfect solution, he's getting his favorite breed back, and I get more Marans. Which I would happily pay for if he'd let me. At least there is not a Rooster in the group, now THAT would cause a problem, bringing in a adult new rooster. And if i want, next year I can get fertile eggs to hatch and see if I like them. He thinks I will. I told him only drawback, no feathered feet lol. I just think my girls especially look like they are running around in their house slippers with their foot feathers. One day the perfect hen will get the name Minnie Pearl. I should have given that name to Holly, but I let Maddy name her.

That sounds like a wonderful solution for everyone!

I have been wanting to do this for some time now. I knew once I started doing this there would be no going back. So I am now diving in and I hope you all enjoy coming along for the ride.

First of all let me tell you how we view our flock as that will help you to understand why we treat them like we do.

Our birds are our pets and we treat them as such. We do not care if someone is not laying eggs. They are welcome to stay at Fluffy Butt Acres until they pass naturally. (Now don't go telling them that! I would hate for word to get out) We do thoroughly enjoy the fresh eggs.

I plan to tell stories from the past as well as from today. I hope you all enjoy and will share stories of your flocks as well.
Can you show us every chicken in your flock!!! Please.🥺🥺🥺

Be careful out there. We had just a coating on the deck. The grass is still visible.
Oh we are not down to grass yet except in little patches like around trees and up close to the house. Still over a foot to go most places, and because it is North facing, there is even more in front of the Chicken Palace.
The tops of structures like the patio table and chairs are emerging slowly.

I got a video of "dinner" time tonight for anyone interested. This is a ritual snack of a full feed scratch, with some cracked corn on cold nights, sometimes a bit of fruit or rice/pasta etc. we do this about an hour before sundown. You will see Alinta attack at the end.
Got to love this. She doesn't take any prisoners does she.

That was an outstanding read. Thanks for sharing. Fortunately Aurora has never doubted her place in the world.

This was her thought when I shared the pictures with her.

"No Tails! What a bunch of weirdos! There must be something wrong with their genes. I'd never let those roosters near me!"
