Some of mine sometimes sound deep & throaty like this. It's rather a cute sound.

She normally has a tiny high voice. Reminds me of Mike Tyson. Big body little voice. I hope she is just trying out a new sound.

Sounds like Elphie is the one who changed your focus on chickens. But, why is it tragic? Sounds like she had a great life. What happened to her?

As I said, I caught Elphie's story up to Daisy's entrance. I have been telling Daisy's story (2 posts so far) and realized I needed to tell Elphie's as well. I will finish Elphie's story along with telling Daisy's. They go together.

Try to think of it as a movie flashback to provide backstory.

The last time Charlie was broody, she made a sound that I hadn’t heard before and she’s stopped making her “tuk tuk tuk” sound. Keep an eye on her, if she seems normal and happy in all other ways, I’m guessing it’s just a new vocalisation (but I am in no way any sort of expert).
