And just for kicks, here’s Mille. She squats when I say her name. I thought that was cute, so recorded it for you. This is after I had already approached her to try to get a fluffy butt photo.

Also, here is today’s offering:

Of note are Dorothy’s white egg (it took several days of calcium to see that shell) and the larger light brown egg toward the bottom. Not sure whose that is. Maybe Ester?
Oh my goodness...that is so adorable! Beautiful fluffy butt and eggs too! :love

If Charlie is laying, she will squat if I say “squat”. And Chickie used to squat at the drop of a hat!

Most chickens I've met are not overly keen on being touched, let alone picked up. Some here went through stages when they didn't object to being handled.
The hens seem to change once they start laying eggs. I think, like roosters, being picked up is seen as some kind of mating.
I don't force the issue. Most trust me enough to get close enough to pick up if I need to. There are a couple, Fat Bird, Bracket and Moon in particular who I can pick up easily; they may even like it.
Friendly is good, but in my circumstances I end up worrying about treading on them when they're in the house.
There's another thing. In my house/coop I'm allowed certain behaviours that are not permitted outside. There is a very noticable division.
This last part is VERY interesting! Remember how easily I handled Ester during her crisis and she was living in the kitchen? Not so much now.

You have mentioned the beak to me before. I have tried it and it was soundly rejected. Even the ones I can touch did not like it. I must be doing it wrong. However the back of my hand seems very acceptable. I never come from above. Always from below. I was able to touch her anatomy this morning.

We just had 2 hawks circling the house. Everyone was on the deck except Phyllis. I actually saw it first. I was able to call Phyllis to me, scoop her up and rejoin her with the tribe on the deck while I stood in the yard yelling at the hawks.

I say this because I want to be able to touch Sydney in an emergency. I can get everyone but her and Aurora. Frankly I have given up on Aurora.
Well done calling off the hawks!
