Since they only came home 2 days ago they are alongside, not touching the big ones, a few minutes ago she was taken inside away from poppy.

OK. What do you have to treat coccidia?

Thanks, Bob. Perhaps this weekend. I have never wormed my flock and that’s on my radar due to poopy bums. My three pullets’ combs aren’t as vibrant as I think they should be, which brings up possible coccidiosis, but I don’t think that’s it. It’s the recurring laying problems perking my spidey senses. Maybe I’m just in denial about the horrendous genetics of these poor birds with regard to laying disorders. I did read in one (scientific) article that MG can cause a reduction in reproduction in a flock, but they seem to be mostly healthy birds. I buy the best feed I can ... Modesto Milling, and had them on half layer, half grower/starter (to increase the protein), but have since gone to full layer due to the egg shell issue and the fact that the almost 2 year olds raised by Cashew seem to be worst off, except for Ruby.

The avian vet indicated it’s almost always cancer or infection that gets them, which is why we’re throwing antibiotics at them right now.

I learned from multiple necropsies at UC Davis that my flock was carrying too much fat. I feel pretty confident I have slimmed them down since then. Sometimes I think I should have waited for retirement to have chickens so they could have long stretches of free range time every day.

Just some thoughts to chew on.

This shot was from yesterday. And Naughty Girl Allele (ISA Brown...I think??) in fact did get up to some antics...she was perching on the top brace of the hammock stand this morning. It is at least 6 feet off the ground!

I think she used the run to launch from.
