I understand how you feel. I rescued a munchkin cat, and although he is quite spoiled, and thinks he's all that and a bag of chips, he is not able to do all the cat things that his instincts want him to do. I think that's very sad. But, I'm glad we have him and are giving him his best life.

We too rescued a munchkin cat. I have yet to see him not do anything that my other cats do. Add far as I can tell, he's a regular cat and a true sweetheart.

They're gorgeous! :love I didn't realise quail were gorgeous!! :wee

Do you have a market for pasture raised where you are?

Quite a good one... I have people constantly hounding me for more pasture raised chicken right now, demand far exceeds supply, which is good for my margin.

Going broke is never a good option. :D
Yes, I remembered you have Cornish & I don't hold it against you...:p Rather I wonder @ the ethics of whoever bred this bird in the first place. I'm funny that way. Like who breeds a dog with such a squashed nose it can't breath properly & will have health problems as a result? Or a cat? I'm not anti meat birds as such but I would prefer they had better options. :(

I agree, but of my 4 curvy ladies, these two CX are the survivors, mostly of their genetics. I keep telling them they need a bit more exercise... but so far they are doing Ok.

How are the residents of fluffy butt acres @BY Bob ? Is Aurora still proud of her adventures in the snow?

Speaking of s*** can I send it back to you @BY Bob?
“It” happened tonight and threw us into panic mode. Sammy and crew now are sharing the owlproof brooder with the 6 boys from the other person I hatched with divided by a cardboard box :fl

And I’m not going to expand into quail... not going to expand into quail... but oh, so pretty!

I'm sorry everyone. I was away today visiting my parents who have returned from my brother's in Florida.

I gave them a cabbage today to make up for no free range time. Hattie promptly sat herself in front of it and viciously pecked anyone else who tried to get some.

Aurora also loves cabbage. She had to develop a strategy to defeat Hattie's blocking.

So as Hattie pecked at the cabbage a leaf would start to peel off, Aurora would align herself and sprint past Hattie and the cabbage grabbing the leaf and peeling it off the cabbage as she ran. She would keep going until she reached a corner of the run where she could eat her treasure in peace.

Once she had completed eaing her cabbage leaf she would line up for another run. She was very clever and very very very fast!
:clap

You can send it but it usually comes here on its own. :gig

I've never asked, do you get much snow? It sounds like you have a lot of emergency adjusting to do because of it. That makes me think it's pretty rare.

Well, mine can't climb a tree. He can't catch a rabbit or squirrel unless it's a baby, and come to think of it he only catches baby birds as well. But we love him and cherish him. And we try to keep the babies safe from him.
