Our homes do not have the same geographic qualities. I live in a busy area on a busy street. We are fortunate to have a large lot, but it is still under half an acre.

I have to choose what will keep them safe. This is what we chose.

Your circumstances are different, your choices can be different.
One night at roosting time when Bok was still here, Belle flapped up on top of the nesting box of the coop. From there she could easily have gotten onto the neighbours fence and out of the yard. I’m so glad I watched chicken tv each night because the next day I put bird netting over the top of the run so she couldn’t get further. She’s a gal who always likes to be up on something if she can.

List of pros and cons of living in California:
Pros.
1. Great weather year round.
2. Jobs and prosperity
3. Lots of entertainment
4. Pacific coast, and all its benefits
Cons:
1. Too many people to fill the jobs
2. Taxation moves businesses out of California
3. High crime rates
4. Drugs and drunks prevail
5. Many homeless people (not usually their fault)
6. Infrastructure failing
7. Highest death rate in the USA due to COVID 19
8. Wild fires, flooding, and an occasional earthquake.
On second thought, maybe I should pack my chickens, and move out too!!

Ruby has had a great day. She foraged all day long, and I saw her soaking up the sun at least a couple times. She’s already put herself to bed with Millie (almost four hours early). I’m so glad she had this day.
That is wonderful. 🥰 I am so very happy for Ruby.

Most of mine are adventurous too...think being part of this family nurture that 😂

Guess what happened today!

First....Naenae escaped the chicken yard. This is 2 different chickens that accomplished it in as many days.

We clipped everyone's wings. They are flying over 7ft fencing.

Second... we had a surprise gift.

I believe this is Dr Tacky's doing. Hubby found it where she has been playing under one of the benches.
