I hope everyone had or is having a good day. It was so hot here today. I got up to about 110°F down close to the ground (chicken height) in the sun. It’s a little trickier to support them in the heat when I’m letting them free range. When they’re in their run, I can control things a little more. They chose to spend most of the day under my neighbors tree. He had hosed it down so hopefully the crowned was Koolish. At one point I did end up running a hose across the street and facing a found Mr. under the tree. I bought them frozen watermelon, cool water, cool poultry electrolytes with ice cubes in it, and a soupy mash fortified with buttermilk, Nutra drench, and a tiny bit of homemade electrolytes.

I also bought two 9M sections of misting line that’s ready to use and just attach to the hose. I have one wrapped around a side and a half of the chicken run, and the other hanging off the dog’s tether line that stretches over the patio. They are glorious! The one in the chicken area gets things a little too wet, but I’m still happy to have it.

Bob, my new Opolar order still hasn’t shipped! How about yours?
Oh, actually, they are en route to carrier and scheduled to arrive Monday. After the heatwave!

I do not know if I should laugh at this or cry. That cat is acting like my girl Jynx. She's bi-polar, and loves you when SHE wants to love you. Beware if you hops on you asking to be petted. You have exactly 3 strokes, from the top of her head to her mid back. If you go any farther or more then 3 you get this reaction.
Here is my spawn of satan herself. She actually has my neighbors 20 year old daughter terrified of her. She came on the porch one day a few years ago to get her sister and Jynx hopped up on her shoulders wanting a ride inside. I had a then 17 year old having a crying meltdown frozen in place while I carefully removed her all the while trying not to laugh.

She looks a little like Blossom.

Well I just found disaster out in the coop. Phyllis was off the nest and I was going to exchange the eggs for ceramic. What I found was shocking.

Someone had destroyed her nest.

All but 2 of her eggs were strewn about the inside of the coup and one of the two in the nest were broken. I removed the broken egg, put the 3 ceramic eggs in with the one good one. Gathered the others from our in the coop and rebuilt the nest.

When I was done Sydney came is to lay her egg. And she took the nest box. A short while later Phyllis showed up waiting to get in the nest. Once Sydney is done and Phyllis is back in I'm going to wire Phyllis in.

That will buy me time to split the coop.
Hmmmm I'm looking at Sansa.

Really?!?! So awesome! Can you share details on them? Brand?
