As promised here are the pictures of Henrietta's 6. They are 4 days old now and are growing well. While they are quite, happy and content, they are also happy little mess makers. Each one has already made up for the fact that I only got pooped on once with all the chicks I brooded in early spring. If I hold one for more then a minute I'm getting pooped on.

The cutest fluffs!

😆 Early on this happened many times to Mrs BYBob. She is a master at corralling them now. He will get better.
I'm surprised they adventured as far as they did! All is well that ends well...but he definitely needs to be more observant and careful. We are not on a quiet, rural property, we are on a busy little thoroughfare.

As others have said possibly a Campine ~ or she could have been a Brakel ~ essentially the same chicken with very minor differences. The Brakel is stated as having white ear lobes. All my Campines have blue ones. :idunnoHowever I'm in Oz so that could make a difference. Both breeds are rare & endangered so she is a very special chicken.
Ear lobe colour?! Oh my, I’ve been studying Belle’s earlobes a bit the past week, I’m going to start checking them out for real! Didn’t even realise this was really a thing 🤦🏻‍♀️

I've written this before.

To guide my determined little scamps in I use an old tent window that's in the shape of a large wing. That and my cat has helped enormously.

Mine were headed for the road once and my cat jumped out in fount of them turning back up my steps away from the road. He led them through 2 gates and up to my back garden steps.

Could he have been a shepherd in his last life, I wonder 🙄

Look at the little darlings. 🥰 I love those orange toes.

I’m thinking of buying one of these with the little tax money I’m getting, opinions? My feeder is outside the coop most times, thought it would help when it rains (so I don’t have to shift it into the cubby where they kick shavings into it, because the feed wouldn’t get damp) and maybe the wild birds may take 2 days to work it out 😂(but will the girls work it out?) It is clear on that side in the pic to show how it works I believe, and yes, it is a proper seller this time 😅 an Aussie company so trying to support ‘local’ 🤷🏻‍♀️

it seems a long way to have to stick their head in? My only apprehension...
Tell me your thoughts, chook brain trust 😁

Well Blueberries siblings and Bunny's two boys left this evening for their new homes. Tomorrow integration begins in earnest between her, Raven, Creamy and Pumpkin. I knew Blueberry would miss her siblings, and she is, but I was slightly shocked at how Raven and crew reacted to the boys leaving. Honestly I believe they took it harder then Blueberry did. Blueberry calmed down and stopped her distressed calling after about 20 minutes, they other girls, they were still calling and looking for the boys at roosting time. I had to put them up on the roost 3 different times as twice they flew down and ran searching for the boys. They finally ended up snuggling up to Butter and settling down. That has led me to another idea. Butter is the most tolerant and friendly towards the weaned chicks out of all my hens and at times is a bit of a loner during the day since her injury. I'm thinking of during the integration process putting Butter in with them to see if they can really buddy up with her. I think it would benefit them all if they became friends, especially when I transition Blueberry to the main roost at night. Where I want her to eventually roost is the one Butter and Bunny roost on as well. The other girls have learned to sleep next to Butter as Bunny is a grump and if one of them gets close at night she pecks them. She will continue to do this until Butter intervenes which she will do after the 2nd peck to put her in her place.
I love this idea. I hope you can make it work.
