Humid today. Overcast in the valley, but at 6000ft clear skies and beautiful. Short Sunday trip earlier. Temperature is 90f degrees. The chooks were mad that I kept them locked up this morning. (They kicked over every feed pan I had set for them.:barnie They are now free in the yard to do whatever they want.
Those eggs I displayed earlier, will be given to my church peeps on Wednesday evening.

It’s humid up here, too, Alex. 90+ in the shade and dry lightning in the forecast for surrounding areas. I’ve had to keep my locked up today, because I took my daughter to the beach this morning and we have a party to go to in a couple hours.

I have accomplished something in taming Blueberry. She was held back from her group simply at first because my dad liked her colors and wanted to know what she would look like as a adult. Me and Rosie had been eyeballing her since day 1 hoping she was in fact a she and trying to find a way to justify keeping another mix. When he made the comment he thought she was the prettiest one at only 3 weeks old and wanted to know what she would look like as a adult that sealed the deal. Keeping her was his idea, not ours and she would become HIS chicken. We all have our own favorite or special chickens, mine is obviously Drumstick. Mom's is Butter, Rosie's heart belongs to Basil and Raven. Dad has never had a favorite, he likes them all, but has yet to click with one. He came in last night gloating that he'd stolen my chicken. I asked him he meant by that, and apparently for 2 hours Blueberry never left his side. She stayed with him while he let dirt graze after his ride, then when he put dirt up and was grooming him she was either on the top stall board or on Dirt's back talking to him. She then hopped up on his lap before bed and settled in while he and mom were out there just sitting with the horses before coming in. I'm going to smugly let him think he stole my chicken, when in fact His chicken has won him over.
Aww… I love this!

Maybe your chickens might like the beach also? :old

We received over 3 inches (7.5 cm) of rain in a 2 time span. We had some local flash flooding.

I took this picture driving into town.

This is video to show how incredibly heavy the rain was.
We had similar and last night we had thunder storms that were shaking the windows of the house. The cats were terrified (and they are not normally concerned with storms). The chickens stayed standing on their roost with their eyes wide open until well after midnight.
We are all exhausted today!
