Hi everyone, I've been busy the last few days and have missed a lot.

First off I want to express my deepest sympathy to BY BOB over the postal fiasco and the loss of his new chicks. Words do not begin to describe my anger at the post office over what I'm calling negligence.

I'm currently in back to school mode as school starts back up the 13th and as of right now even though covid is rampant in Kentucky virtual is not being offered. So it was lovely this past Saturday to get a notification in the mail that my daughter's shot record is out of date and she can not set foot on school grounds until it is taken care of. Fine simple fix and made a dr appointment for Tuesday. We spent 3 hours there waiting only to finally be told that due to computer systems down state wide they could not pull up her record to see what she needed. They thought she might need 2 boosters, but were not sure. They even told me that it would be safe to give them to her even if she didn't need them but with systems down could not print off a updated copy to give to the school so they chose not to administer the shots. They were supposed to call me by noon the following day and if she needed them could just walk in anytime. I heard nothing Wednesday and started repeatedly calling Thursday only to be told I had to wait until the nurse had time to access the system and they would let me know. They did, 20 minutes before the office closed yesterday, yup she needs the shots come in Monday. No big deal, until 3 this afternoon. My sister who lives in the house and works at the hospital tested positive for covid. We are now in quarantine. Health department is supposed to call Monday to give us official instructions on how long and what to do. I do know one thing though, I can breath a bit on the shot record because regardless thanks to my sister she is not going back when school starts.
If everyone could say a prayer for my sister I would really appreciate it. This hit fast, she was fine last night although tired. It didn't seem out of the ordinary as several in her department are out with it and she has been working overtime the last 2 weeks to cover their shifts. She woke up this morning with a headache, sore throat, nausea and body aches. Suspected strep throat as she is prone to it and that is how it starts with her. By noon though she started running a fever and when she left to get tested was already 102. Her breathing is still good and right now only has minor coughing. As long as her fever stays under control and it does not affect her breathing she can stay home, the minute that changes she and mom are emergency room bound.

Oh boy. That is a lot to cope with.
Wishing all the very best for you and particularly your sister.

I understand the guilt but there is no guarantee that hormones would have helped either. Then there’s the financial costs too.
She seemed fine then went down rapidly. As Lozzy said hindsight is wonderful .

I’m currently going through the same thing with my beautiful Golden Retriever. She has been licking her paw for years. We, and the vet, thought it was probably arthritis. Now that she has been diagnosed with metastatic cancer I can’t help thinking maybe it started in the bones of her foot. There were all sorts of signs that, looking back, are obvious now. If only we had found it back then.

But “What ifs “ and “if onlys” don’t really help us in the present. We can’t go back and change things. We can only learn and move forward.

Grieve but be kind to yourself too Michelle. :hugs
No, the hormones are not a guarantee. Chickie had an implant and it bought her about two months, not six or longer. I probably spent over $700.00 trying to save her and in the end, had to have her euthanised. Be kind to yourself. :hugs

Today is my birthday and I got to spend it with my family and amazing friends.

Bob was kind enough to invite us down for a swim and a visit. I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting his daughter, Mary and sweet Eve.

All the chooks came by to say hi and beg for treats. Phyllis is ok, she has switched nests but is still sitting. It was a lovely day all around!
Happy birthday CCCL! Glad you had a lovely day and could be some support for Bob too.

Just got home a few hours ago and I thought I would share this new behavior my turkey Odin showed today.. 😊:lau:gig
.....
It's official my turkeys see me as a turkey. Im good with that. Well one does.. As long as they don't forget im the alpha. :love Odin be his name. Anyways I sat down on the ground to hang out with my turkeys and Odin comes up to me and starts softly pawing my hand witch was resting on the ground. I was like oh how cute he wants to be held. So I picked him up and put him on my lap and he sat right down. I'm just going on talking to everyone. The turkeys and Chicken Lady and my husband says you need to watch him he's up to something look at his tail feathers. I responded oh he's just puffing up because everyone is so close to me. Well a few minutes go by and Odin starts to drift off to sleep and I pick him up and place him on the ground next to me. He stands up and starts softly pawing my leg. So I put my hand down again to pick him up. Well I finally figured out what he was up too. I left my hand on the ground and he slowly stepped on my hand and slowly squated down and started trying to mate with my hand. My husband yelled and said watch out he's got some stuff going on back there and I pulled my hand back and seen the mess Odin deposited on the ground. Pour guy. So now I have to watch where I put my hands down and make sure I pay closer attention because this is not a good habit for Odin to start.
You should ask @Shadrach about Treacle and the boots! :D

Oh, gosh, Rebecca. What a lot of stress! I am sending positive, healing vibes into the universe for your sister (my form of prayer, I suppose).
