Well, I spoke too soon. This is not a great day for Ruby. I would love to get some more fluid and/or maybe bird formula into her, but her digestive system is very slow. She’s still got whole, unprocessed sunflower seeds coming through her poop from yesterday. That means her crop isn’t emptying. This is the most bizarre, cold August California day I can remember in my entire life. The sun has yet to show itself and right now it’s only 64°. The next five nights are supposed to be 50°, so I may have to keep Ruby inside for a couple nights, even though I was so excited to see her roost yesterday. I will reevaluate later. I just saw her do liquid poop, so maybe her system is starting to move along a bit.
My gosh. It is so hot and humid here it is unbearable outside. I'm so sorry the weather is not helping.

Hugs for Ruby and you. :hugs :hugs

I heard the most beautiful sound this evening while putting everyone to bed this evening. Basil crowed after he got up on the roost. He's roosting now in his daddy's spot and is stepping up as a flock leader. He is trying his best to keep everyone together in one big group. Daisy and Butter are giving him fits though, wherever he wants the group to go, those 2 decide they want to go in the opposite direction. I swear those girls are doing it on purpose and putting him through his paces. But he is trying and learning and soon enough the girls will behave for him.

This
Is
Amazing

And if he makes it through Daisy and Butter (he will), little Basil will be a formidable rooster.
