Hi, everyone. I can’t stay online and catch up right now, but I am so sorry to read about the predator losses. Heartbreaking!

Also wanted to share that Ruby got herself up onto the 3-foot shelf and then jumped the additional 18 inches or so onto a roost tonight. She continues to get stronger.

Unfortunately, she’s already bloating back up, so the end may actually be coming this time. I’m pleased she’s having some good days! I also know she knows she is loved.

Hello everyone. Longtime lurker here and I will return to it shortly as life is too hectic to keep up with you guys. Just wanted to weigh in the the eagle debate. I have watched juvenile bald eagles come after my birds. The only reason they haven't carried one off was because I was able to get to the chickens while my rooster held them off. I don't know about an adult though. I've never had one. I am very close to a river and am located in Minnesota. We have lots of bald eagles but never any goldens. It is my guess that the juveniles cannot compete for hunting grounds over the water and seek food elsewhere. Do not rule them out of your equation. I wish you all luck with your predator issues.

Not laughing at you here. I think it's very commendable.
I have silicone straws and steel straws. I have special tiny bottle brushes for them and I carry them around in my handbag so I don't have to use plastic.

I woke up and had to go to my own room. (Stuffy nose and sneezing) I didn’t want to wake up the chickens. I sure don’t want Ruby to leave us. Such a strong willed hen. I think about her all the time, and she’s always in my prayers.
