Arizona just wanted to snuggle with me, but Dakota (getting noisy and complaining) wanted to go outside and run the yard. (They don’t do this daylight savings time) and I don’t blame them!

Harvest, dry, then store the raisins for treats throughout the year.

How do you dry them? I've never thought of that.

Now pic taking days will be highly limited likely to 2 days a week....less if the weather is even colder. I'm trying to keep getting pics of Storm just to document her development, but even there limited. She gave me a scare last night. Went to close the coop, everyone but her. Looked around outside (half dark), headed for house for help/flashlight. Kid comes out to help and she's in the coop. Her colors are great for blending in shadows and it seems she's good at holding still/being silent. Good traits, but

I need to do that. My grapes go to waste. I don't like them - they are way, way too sweet and are a very old variety that you need to pick out to get a decent sized grape. Too much effort for something so icky!

I have always let the song birds have mine but they did not touch them this year. Lots of grapes for chickens. Lots of grapes wasted away.

There’s still lots of grapes on this, but even more on the ground. Bob is right, the wild song birds get their fill too.

Great advice. I’ve been thinking about it for some time, but forgot about the trap piece.

Yes, I do the same when I let them out, lots of quick ways back in or out again, keeping in mind they always want to take the most direct line to where they want to escape when out ranging, which is back to the coop and coop run usually. Hmm, what I don't have is a hatch right under the coop, that run is a dead end. Not sure about that.
Yes, I walk around the arranged complex to be sure I've got them all closed up after ranging.

How do you dry them? I've never thought of that.

I would assume food dehydrator, hang a bunch like for herbs in cool/dry location, or low temp in oven. If I can find strains that will survive the winter, the deer eat them. if drying isn't an option, wine making may be.
