And apparently I was wrong. Raven was the one that laid her first egg yesterday. Right now I have a fight going on the front porch. Both Raven and Bunny need to lay, and they are fighting over the same box on the porch. They are taking turns throwing each other out of the box before the other one has time to lay their egg. Neither one will show any interest in the other side. Raven is in the box now, and if Bunny will just give her a few minutes she can have the box to herself.
I will never understand the one box for all eggs philosophy. Frustrating.

We had a few good sun breaks today, but it has just kept snowing! I don't remember the last time it snowed a full day. Usually when we have had big snow falls they happen at night.
The ladies spent a bit of time on the back patio, but came back to the garage. It's really blustery now too.
I feel for them. That must have been no fun. Poor ladies. 😥

Hi people. So Bridge put herself to roost in the sunroom, which is really outside the coop (it has a roof and one wall, but three walls are hardware cloth. They are currently wrapped in plastic.)

Do I let her stay there? More rain is coming AND it’s going to dip below 40°F tonight. I’m wondering if she trapped herself in there with her sore leg and didn’t want to jump down (she’s on the upper roost in there). But when I shone a light outside, she looked pretty content and even preened a bit. It would make sense in summer, but in winter???

Sometimes, I just don’t know what to do with myself. I over do everything and wipe myself out. Sometimes I just get in here (BYC) and expect a word of wisdom from someone else. (I surely don’t like being sick) but I don’t like missing church either. The people in that congregation, mean very much to me. :barnie Frustrating!
Have you considered swimming? Is there a pool near you? What does your doctor thing about it? It's supposed to help improve lung function and is the gentlest form of exercise due to all the support/resistance the water provides.

Tax (and the yard is now blanketed in snow: they refused to leave the coop today)

Tomorrow is Beethoven-Hen’s hatch day. She’s Six years now. She’s been so special to me all these years. Sadly, she’s not feeling well tonight (bad death breath) and she was choking on her food earlier. She’s here with me now, along with Jaffar, and Arizona. I just fed her some sweet potato pie I made earlier. And she prefers to lay right here next to me. (No mites, or bugs,I checked carefully) she’s still recovering from a molt. And pin feathers are all coming up from her neck. Wish us good luck please.
What do you mean by 'death breath? Sour crop smelling? Rotting food kind of smelling? How full is her crop...check it now and again in the morning. Maybe @BY Bob or @Shadrach would have some insight.. But importantly, monitor eating, crop function (size pm & am) and general weight/condition of body.

Not for nothing...but my dog always has terrible 'dog breath'. I am really not sure what a chicken 's breath smells like normally..I never actually smelled their mouth except for one who had sour crop. (you couldn't help but smell it!)

What else is going on aside from bad breath? There must be some other symptoms.

How are you doing? Feeling any better?
