I love how you staggered the photos in the square, it’s very striking. And I LOL’d at the “you just ate a worm” bit!![]()
I'm glad I got someone to giggle.

She looks a right bossy britches. Just the ticket for a happy flock![]()
I remember one time I came home and my husband had let out all the girls, and baby Bessie came running up to me. My heart melted! Of course, she wouldn’t let me touch her!![]()
There are some very good chicken photographers on these threads with some very photogenic chickens!
Thank you for the well wishes. My girls are a bit camera shy.
Edwina (on the left) refused to come out from under the bush
The little white dots on her shoulder and wing are where the new feathers are coming in. She has no tail left and most of her butt fluff is being replaced.

Good link. Where did you find it?My hubby just sent me a link to this article. Not sure how peer-reviewed it is, but I think some very qualified people write for it often.

I've found it's the containers that put them off initially. Even with the commercial feed which I've been feeding in the same type bowls for ages, they'll prefer to eat off the ground.Omelette Time
Every Sunday my wife and I go out for breakfast after church. We tend to order omeletes with lots of things in them. We also never finish them.
"Can we get a to go box for these omelete pieces? Our chickens love them."
We even cut the omeletes into beak sized pieces.
Yesterday's omeletes had a large array of stuff in them.
So as usual I put the leftovers out for the Big Girls on the deck. They never finish any leftovers but rather save some to pick through all day.
- Broccoli
- Cheese
- Sausage
- Bacon
- Mushrooms
Sad for them this Sunday.
When they were done, I took the remainder over to the newbies who had not yet found the deck.
Sydney knows food and she was the first to try it.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement. But that did not deter Phyllis.

By the end of the day, it was all gone.
