Here is Dotty in her cave and a daytime picture of the little mini-roost I made for her yesterday. Nit beautiful but functional. View attachment 2973706View attachment 2973707 I really hope she isn’t too stressed being on her own. She wasn’t roosting anywhere near anybody else but of course she could see and hear them.

She will be ok tonight. Don't stress too much.

Can It Possibly be True? Am I Really Seeing This?!

After everything the tribe here at FBA has been through over the past several months I have been so afraid that this integration of Betty and Phyllis would go sideways on us. So much so I almost turned her down when Betty was offered to me. Well guess what I just saw on the camera........

Wonderful preening party! And Betty, cute little devil, non-chalantly takes a couple of steps closer...then preens a bit more before settling down for the night!

Phyllis: Whatcha doin'?
Betty: Just fixin' my feathers
Phyllis: yeah, gotta fix mine, too
(Betty cautiously takes a couple of steps closer to Phyllis)
Phyllis: Hey, whatcha doin;
Betty: Um, nothin'
Just wanted to turn 'round
Phyllis: oh, yeah, gotta have the good side showin'
hard having to always worry 'bout that
Betty: (preening again) yeah, hard work bein' pretty.
Makes me tired, gonna go to sleep now
get my beauty rest
Phyllis: yeah, me too...just a couple more feathers to put into place.....

Ha ha! Yes I did notice you win the cold and miserable competition. You are most welcome!
I just got another bag of chick starter/grower and I am giving protein snacks. Any other ideas on how to fatten up Dotty? I think all my chickens tend to 'skinny' (remember the vet thought that about Minnie), but she has definitely lost body bulk not just feathers.

toss in a few meal worms with her feed. (not a lot, but a few...or some sunflower seeds or walnut pieces) Basically, something with protien and a bit of fat...but again, not too much/many.

Must be Roo bad manners day, Pangoo bite me and drew blood...

I have been pretty much ignoring him but he esp hates when I am wearing my big heavy winter boots...
