It really is nuts. I knew Dotty hadn’t molted with the others and I assumed she would just keep her old feathers for another year. Or maybe do some if that molt a bit here and there that Maggie is prone to.
It never crossed my mind she would lose all her feathers at once at the coldest time.
:th
You’re doing a great job taking care of her needs 💜

I did a weigh in with my girls today. Belle was easy but she was still a bit placid from being in the nest box, Snow, as always, put up a struggle 😅
Belle came in at 1.8kg (3.9pound)
Snow was 2.6kg (5.7 pound)

I know @BY Bob you put Phyllis’ weight here recently but can’t find it for the life of me.
Also, has Hattie had a weigh in lately? Curious to see what she is, I imagine she’s about Snow’s size 🤷🏻‍♀️

Now if Belle decides to continue to sit on her non existent eggs for a few weeks I have an idea if she’s dropping any weight 👍🏻

You have it right. That's what I was saying. I meant this definition of peckish.

I did not mean anyone was pecking someone. If Hattie gets down to eat, she can't get back up.
I knew peckish, it 1:30am and I am peckish, only problem is no more bananas and I finished the last of the cake yesterday 😆

And because Old Blue gave me issues starting I didn't get to the grocery store! So no quick snack for me... Add make a cake to my baking today!

Not too bad. 6" so far and still snowing but beginning to lighten up. They say very high winds and to expect drifting but haven't seen that yet.
The Chicken Palace runs have a light dusting from blowing wind and the ladies have made their attitude clear. They love snow if I shovel it in so they can keep their feet dry. They have no interest in harvesting snow themselves from the wild.
:lau
That's hilarious 😂 harvesting snow from the wild.

I call the snow we get here 2' of partly cloudy 😊

That's a dreadful thing to have happen, that must have been terrifying.

I really hate it when people don't take proper responsibility for their animals. Dogs have hunting instincts and need to be contained for their own and others safety. :rant

I'm so sorry this happened but glad you and your cousin are OK.
Thanks, now that I have the chickens I am more wary than ever with dogs. I plan on doing a proper covered run for them in the Spring. With dog, coyote, wolf, fox, racoon proof fencing 😲😁

Yeah, we have the trenching done and conduit laid, but the next room in the house isn't ready for him yet....and we need to upgrade our main junction box before adding anything...so hopefully this spring:fl
That's great! Something to look forward to, I know everything takes time, and I bet you will be super egg-citing to have power out there! Isn't modern technology wonderful?! 💖🤗

Yes, one white peking...hasn't laid yet, she is an august hatch...but should lay white eggs. One Buff orpington, also lays white eggs (one of my 2 co-broody gals - those 2 will be 5 this spring) one 1/2 rouen, 1/2 Khaki campbell, again, white eggs. Rest are all khaki campbell. They start the lay cycle laying eggs that look like they are dirty (grayish cast that gets mottled as the wet bloom hits the straw bedding), but as the season goes on, looks more white,,,until you put it next to something pearly white. I have 8 hens/ducks, and one drake.
I love how the eggs are all different colours, even with ducks - just amazing. Pearly white sounds lovely.
