I know. I know.Look at it this way: the less you interfere, the quicker they settle. The more you interfere, the longer it takes. How quickly do you want it drug out?

She is a real beauty. She reminds me of Patsy a lot.It is time for some Corona appreciation. She is 5 1/2 months old now and I am loving everything about this girl. My 1 itty bitty complaint is that she has clean legs, but I can fix that with her babies. It has taken 2 generations but she is the closest hen I have to having full complete copper hackle markings. My plans with this girl is once she starts laying and her eggs are up to size she is being paired up with Bubba. They both have the dark copper coloring, and he has the better feathering on his legs and feet. I want a dozen eggs between these 2 to hatch off for myself in hopes of getting a feather footed hen with at least as much hackle markings Corona has if not more. Corona is also showing signs she is going to be as big as grandma Daisy, another reason the ideal pairing will be with my tank of a boy Bubba. Drumstick and Clovers final gift to me was their best daughter.

A short man, how about Napoleon?
Nappie is fun name. You could call him Dink after Peter Dinklage as well.Hmmmm, and call him 'Nap' or Nappie for short?? I don't know what it is (?maybe me being lazy? ?Maybe my knowledge that for dogs, 2 syllable names is best?) but I like 2 syllable names most...have had a few 1 syllable. (Randy, Rosie, Hawk eye, Raven, Knight, etc. Sir Lancelot was my exception, lol.)
I don't know about that. For some reason, Dink sounds like a not nice word.Nappie is fun name. You could call him Dink after Peter Dinklage as well.
Beast (Beauty & the...). Thudbutt. George (I will hug him and squeeze him and....oh, wait, that's for a Silkie). Henry VIII was rather corpulent..... Hannibal crossed the Alps....that fits Pony better with Mount Poopmore.... Sitting Bull, Chief Joseph, Geronimo (that works better for an ambush/attack rooster). Sanders (Colonel, as he's the head of a chicken dinner chain). Napoleon (no, he was little, but talked big). Teddy (Roosevelt: talk soft, carry big stick)Thank you! He is a VERY sweet boy. Mix of Cuckoo marans, white rock & dark cornish. He is short, but VERY heavy....I didn't intend to keep him when he hatched as a chick (Momma was DC/WR cross, daddy Cuckoo marans), but he is now going to be one of my foundation stock for my meat bird endeavour. He will live until he passes naturally!
Suggestions for a name?I never thought of one that seemed to fit.....but since he is a keeper, I think he needs one.
That's cool. I now need regular updates on Nappie.I don't know about that. For some reason, Dink sounds like a not nice word. When I was growing up people would say' you're such a dink'. I think because at that time, you still got in trouble for saying the slang for male parts. I think Nappie it is! Short for Napoleon.
Thank you.

Hmmm...o boy, this is getting tough. Teddy could work on multiple levels...he can be a bit of a snuggler at times...and he is sweet (talk softly), but he won't shy away from a confrontation if it has to happen. Protective of his girls. What's his personality like?
She's determined to set. I tried moving her last night. Was like trying to move a bowl of jello without the bowl and using your bare hands. Decided to let her be. If by some miracle she's successful, her next challenge is keeping the littles alive through deep winter. not 100% certain when she started on the eggs, but between last Wed and Sun, so....tentative hatch date around Feb 18+/- a couple of days. If shes still on by 25, then eviction has to happen.A handsome little man
I have my two silkies steadfastly loving a golf ball between the two of them in the same nest box. I have left them to it as its been so cold and they are missing feathers. So they are now into a couple weeks doing this.
Twice a day I haul them off their nest to eat, drink and poop, then they race back to their nest box and snuggle back together positioning that golf ball tenderly
I am almost tempted to find some chicks for them, but it is waaaay too early for chicks here. Still getting -25C temps.
Well keep us updated as to egg status - I live vicariously through those hatching eggs![]()
