I'm so far behind, I don't recall who is thinking of naming a roo Napoleon, and Nappie for short. Just FYI, in case this changes your mind... "nappie" is British English for diaper.
Yeah, I thought of that too. Could be Nap, Napster (;)). Or maybe call him Polo for short instead. @bgmathteach

Peaceful and group-like. You are keeping the between-runs door closed to train Betty to hang with Phyllis and only roost with her, correct? To keep Betty from roosting with the big girls? Do you think the bigs would go nuts if Betty got in there at this point?
The drop door is down for 3 reasons.
  1. It is a limited form of quarantine. It's not great but it does limit their contact somewhat and it's the best I can do in the winter. I know the flock that Betty came from was healthy so I took a calculated risk and put her and Phyllis in together.
  2. I want Betty to roost in the Cluckle Hut and not the Main Coop. So I have prevented her access to the main coop.
  3. Dealing with Phyllis' aggression was enough that I thought I would limit Betty's exposure to the larger ladies until her and Phyllis were settled in.
From what I have seen, I think Betty and the bigger ladies are going to get along just fine but there is no way to be certain until I open the drop gate. I would prefer to do it while they free range if the snow will ever melt. It provides more getaway space.

I can't imagine anything more enjoyable than chicken cameras but maybe I'm obsessed. 🤷‍♂️
Yep we are obsessed Bob... But have to say my barn cams have paid for themselves with foaling mares and sick colicky horses at 2am.

....and Fluffy McNugget falling off the roost at midnight 😆

Uh ho, little Coco is pancaking in this laying box. She’s got four eggs and one golfball under her at the moment. (I really don’t want her to be broody) time will tell. :idunno

It were me, I would remove the eggs, leave the golf ball 😆

My two silkies are getting a lot of mileage out of their golf ball 😁

Those apple hooks are brilliant! What are they?
They are plant hanger hooks. I have a few different lengths, but you can get a 2 pack of the 8" ones at Dollar Tree for $1 (soon to be $1.25). I am able to push the end through apples where the stem is...but also am able to push it through Cabbage, too!

More explanation is required. What happened?
All the chickens were as usual vying for night time roost positions, beating up on the poor chicks... There was a lot of crashing about, flapping, sqwacking, hollering (not me I was on a Teams meeting haha).

My mare is flighty to begin with so she starts running around her stall kicking the walls, and further disrupting the chickens.... and so it went until I had to rescue the chicks.... Then peace reigned !!

Needless to say the teams meeting was challenging hahaha!
