Me too. Watching Storm IN the flock was hard. Lone having to be introduced? Something I hope to never have to do.I never considered the issue a lone chick would be. We are praying that you get 2.

Or even some eucalyptus oil... I use that in my humidifier in my room at night it's so dry...Maybe a little peppermint oil would be just as good
When is due date?Your right, it is still positive. This early in the year, and with them being her first eggs after a break I doubted any would be fertile. 3 out of 5 were, that is 60%. I did not have that percentage last year with 4 hens laying when I set the first round of eggs. To top it off, we were in a cold snap when the eggs were laid, the first one really caught me by surprise and was very cold when I found it. It could have been partially frozen. If the one did quit, it is not shocking, it happens, even later on in the year I have come to expect a few quitters. What I do not need to happen is have a single chick hatch. If that happens I will either be scrambling around looking for another chick of similar age, or try to place it with someone else that has chicks. If it was being broody raised a lone chick would not be the end of the world, but not ideal when you are brooding them yourself. I was at both tractor supply and rural king this past weekend, neither one had chicks in yet. I've got everything possible crossed hoping for 2 to hatch.
Jaffar does NOT like me messing with his beak!! I got some of the crud out, but it’s going to take several treatments. It’s really packed in there! I’m taking my time. I don’t want to annoy my buddy too much.I hope Jaffar feels the same!![]()

Sleep well.Well we all survived the adventure of rooting everyone out of bed to have a good long drink!
The youngsters thought is was all grand haha they were happy with picking up the feed my thoroughbred mare was dropping on the floor from her evening feed.
The oldsters were happy with a long drink then they were very much in the mood to go about eating and digging through hay. I had to herd them all back to bed, I ended up turning most of the lights out in the barn to encourage them back to bed haha.
Other then Misty going into a nest box to roost everyone went to bed and settled. I figured Misty could stay in the nest box... Happy days! Now I too can hit the hay!
