I’m not sure if I will be able to help Jaffar with his nostrils. I’m not a beak expert by any means. I think I will consult with a veterinarian about the situation.

He worked hard to get in, then worked harder to get through. He's got confidence in himself now, too.Yay!! You must be sooooo proud of him!![]()
Good idea. The breathing issues and the mud are worrying.I’m not sure if I will be able to help Jaffar with his nostrils. I’m not a beak expert by any means. I think I will consult with a veterinarian about the situation.
Our community here mostly runs on volunteers, the Fire Department, Ambulance, and our yearly fundraiser lamb BBQ are all volunteer based. (We also donate not to have our fire department do a calendar! We love them…dearly, but no one wants to see Them topless!) We had about 20 kids in the school here 6-11, including the SEEC teenagers (Saturna ecological education Centre) kids who travel from Vancouver Island and other parts of the province to attend in a boarding like outdoor school program. Millie the goat was also enrolled in the early 2000’s. It’s sad, very sad, to lose such a close knit community feeling. All the gulf islands had similar population booms, but most of those already had 1000+ residents and infrastructure like medical facilities, and more than just one store and gas station! One of the big reasons for moving here was (aside from chickens and farming) that amazing community. Knowing every single resident in your “town” by name. I used to work in a store with more employees than we had residents here when we moved… 360 Full time residents, and our median age was over 60!They are ignorant and self absorbed. You bet your bottom dollar they would be ranting about the rec center being open if their generator failed and THEY were without power/water/ability to cook/eat!
Unfortunately, we, as a society (in the U.S.; I'm not a worldly traveler, so can't comment about other countries.), have become more self absorbed and insulated from reality/nature/natural cycle & processes...and our neighbors (in any meaningful way). Unfortunately, this leaves us being completely oblivious to how our behavior REALLY impacts others...or at least insulated from the results of that.
Yes, these posts made me run the gamut of emotions. Unfortunately I couldn't find the 'disgusted' emoticon.
A steaming room may help
Maybe a pedicure and bath/blow dry too! Jaffar needs a spa day!!!I must clean out the clogged up nostrils first. (Try to get rid of the dried mud)
Princess Mucky girl still with us all

This grumpy face is similar to some of the expressions I often see on my meat bird holdbacks/rescues… does she have any Cornish in her? It could be a Cornish thing…She is some character that one!![]()

That makes me very happy. Very good news!So far, so good!I can't even see the wound in her mouth anymore (not that she is cooperative about that, though!)
I plan on doing one last check tomorrow before giving her a good bill of health. I am always amazed at how quickly chickens heal.![]()
