Got two planter hooks like I think @bgmathteach posted about and got a cabbage! I am trying a half first, to see how they like it. Here they are checking it out, they had tried it when it was hanging lower from a chair, so this isn't exactly the moment of first encounter. That's Hazel with the long call, I think now she does that when there's something pretty good to eat around, she gets pretty vocal (then and when she has to go lay).
I just love a hanging cabbage. It is so much fun for them. 🥰

My BIL has collected enough to build his Christmas tree out of them....along with other things. He had my boys out with him changing the cards in his trail cams when my youngest came up with the other half of one the BIL found the year before. After that, he was up the trees working on cams while cranking his head around trying to spot more sheds. Now he has a hound mix trained to sniff them out too.

So glad you are out of snow. That's wonderful!

Betty Spaghetti

Its funny but I've started calling Betty, Betty Spaghetti, and yet I realized I have never given her spaghetti. I decided to correct that today.

Before I tell that story, today was amazing. They got over 5 hours of free range time together. It does wonders for the integration for them to free range together. They had such a wonderful time today and so did I. It was almost like the pre-hawk days. I have so many pictures to share. I will have many posts to do.

Back to Betty Spaghetti.

So I had a chance to sit down and visit with my ladies today. I have sorely missed being on the ground with them looking at their silly faces. They truly seemed excited to spend time with me today. Check out this greeting when I first sat down.

Well it was time for Betty to experience Mrs BY Bob's spaghetti. Betty figured out pretty quickly that I am likely to have a snack with me and she joined the crew pretty quickly on the deck. I started to distribute the spaghetti and felt that Betty might need her own off to the side. Phyllis thought the Betty might need some company.

So Betty grabbed some and headed down the steps to eat alone. Here she is enjoying her first spaghetti.

Hattie was very hesitant to come up on the deck and when she did, she did not eat much. Rather suprisingly she set herself up as sentinel.

Later when I went inside to grab a drink. Betty and Phyllis were sure I was going on to grab more food for them. Betty has learned fast. 😆

I love Betty's new nickname. I think she approved of the spaghetti as well. She's also learned fast, watch out, before you know it she'll follow you inside.

It's Pony Sunday!! I will take new pictures today, but for now I have dug through the archives.

First up Dirt.
First picture I have of him when he arrived to the barn 4 months before we bought him and to me his official baby picture. He was 16 or 17 months old here.

He turns 5 this spring and finally, finally there is a brain between those ears of his.

But I think they can bite us and maybe infect other animal's.
Depends on the species of mites, but Most chicken mites and lice are species specific. However, they do itch and annoy when they are on a person looking for a new avian host. With the rescues I have taken in this has been an issue. When I was treating Tippie, before I moved her up to my trailer and eventually Doused her with Ivermectin… and carbaryl (sp?) powder they would literally be visibly running up my arms… I do believe there are some mites that can infest humans from birds, but I thought that was only wild birds.

Don’t you find the jigsaw burns through the smaller batteries a little quickly? I had to trim a hurricane tie strap someone set a little off kilter in the concrete today and my angle grinder sucked a 4ah and half of a 6ah battery dry in no time! Nice saw too… I have been looking at them, but will see if I can get my craftsman mitre running first, you’re going to have to give a tool review on it now for me! 😆

I believe that Betty and Phyllis will be inside before long if I'm not careful. They were hot on my heels yesterday.
