This is the best post. I'm so glad you sent me back to it. I would have really missed something special.

I agree with you. Betty's integration is done and aside from my personal anxiety, it went really well. She has the perfect personality to join this lot. She is one determined hen.

As I said before, I saw no hawk. Hattie's behavior was more cold related I believe. There was no fear, just disgust with the wind. Hattie really does not like the wind inverting her feathers. She has always avoided the wind.

I call it 'wind blowing up your kilt' I don't blame Hattie!

I love the way your mind works and gives me these real things to think about. Please don't ever stop sharing them.

The coop was in the lee of the wind today. Right there in front of the coop there was no wind. She made the trip out in the wind to subdue Sydney and then went right back. (I now think Sydney was teasing her about hiding from the wind so Hattie reminded her who is boss) I really think this was all wind related. Hattie just doesn't like her feathers ruffled.

As far as other birds go, today we saw 2 doves and a crow. That's it. ☹

Do you have Blue Jays there? My gang has learnt to listen to the Blue Jays, when they are around and sqwaking the gang is on high alert as the Jays always know when a predator is around.

I thought I had posted something saying thank you Bob for creating a forum where we genuinely love each other and each other’s birds, but I can’t seem to find it. Anyway hopefully I’m not posting that twice, but I mean it.

You posted it! And can keep posting it over and over! It’s so true… I was a little worried coming back after having been gone so long, but Chicken friends are the best friends after all. And that Bob invites us all to hang out with him and the Fluffy Butt Crew… I’m so touched by all the kindness and sincerity here. It never hurts to appreciate it, and I’m glad to be back as a part of it.

Yup, he's a brat. Tonight he kept attacking me so I grabbed him and chucked him out in the snow, about a foot of new snow, and it was darn cold at -11c. But he kept tripping me up.

I continued with the chores checking him a couple times. Then after about 10 min let him in, he went back to attacking me so I chucked him back out so I could get water and hay done. Otherwise I just couldn't walk without him attacking my boots tripping me up!!

I let him in again and he stopped attacking me, he was likely too cold at that point. Not sure what to do with him.

Ya they r really fast, I am surprised it took on a full sized chicken that's a big bird for a Cooper to take down, I doubt it could have flown off with the bounty... Did it?

We had 3 correct guesses out of the 8. Everyone who picked Betty, sorry she has not laid yet. She is obviously interested but not quite ready.

Of all things Phyllis has stopped laying in the Cluckle Hut and is now laying in the main coop.

The 3 layers were, Aurora (her 1st of the year), Sydney, and Phyllis.
