I know! Poor Nyssa didn’t get a go as I had to go in and start dinner. I didn’t want to leave it unsupervised as the the salmons probably could have squeezed through the bars.

Chickie’s dinner:

Pork mince, corn kernels, basmati rice and shredded cheese. She didn’t seem interested in the corn, but ate most of the rest of it.

She’s a clever girl. Does anyone follow her lead?

They all have. I have as well. I just didn't realise I was being taught stuff at the time. I've learn't a lot of chicken language from Fat Bird and she has learned a lot about how to communicate with me in the process.

Someone did! The bowl was empty when I put them to bed.

Nyssa and River: “We are in bed!”
Me: “Having your heads inside the bedroom and your butts outside does not count as going to bed!”

*Opens door, gently shunts fluffy butts into bedroom *

It’s spa day!

@Shadrach got me thinking about daily bathing, and I felt so sorry for the girls cooped up in quarantine. So I filled a box with dirt I had recently dug up. It took them a bit of investigating (River even found a worm!) but they got there. I say ‘they’; Nyssa hasn’t been allowed to have a turn yet.

I never get tired of chicken baths. That was a great idea on your part giving them a way to bathe. Great job.

I'm stunned. Did not eat the corn!? That is like candy around here.

Thanks! I wish I’d thought of it sooner. The only trouble is I have to sit with them whilst they do it.

She has gone off the commercial feed, which has dried corn through it. If she eats other stuff I am happy to provide it. I also got her a big tin of tuna; the three of them aren’t eating much of the sardines.
