I know and I was just kidding. Your right, there is a strong male genetic line in my flock. The 7 chicks I'm scrutinizing every day though are not from my flock. 6 were bought as sexed pullets and Ezzie is the result of Chiquita and one of the males she was housed with before I got her. In theory I should only have to worry about Ezzie, but we all know hatcheries can not be 100% accurate in sexing chicks. Now, out of these 7, if I end up with multiple boys I give up and will just accept that all I'm destined to have is boys.

Roosters are just misunderstood! :old:love All they need is love ❤️! La, la, la, la, la, la!

She may decide to send ALL the jerks to Featherhead Rooster Rehabilitation Center....
Hah! And I avoid the SHRA tax… yes @rural mouse I'm just trying to figure out a way to ship all the little buggers down there. Annoying borders and all. Anytime you’re flying by or have that boat in the vicinity, feel free to stop by and I will gift the whole lot to you @featherhead007! Don’t get me wrong I Love my Roosters… I snuggle Sammy whenever possible (not in front of his ladies of course) just this particular group is severely lacking in social skills. Good thing most of the hens know to run to their rooster or me when these guys get too frisky…

So this just happened this week. I know this happens a lot in my area. This is appalling to me and frankly I feel that the maximum charges are not stiff enough. I've heard so many people defend this saying that it is natural for them to fight. I'm just left feeling like I want to beat them over the head with a shovel when I hear it. That is another reason it is so hard to place boys when I hatch them off. Half the people wanting roos want them for training for this crap. At times I feel it would be better to cull and eat the extra boys, but I can not do that either.

Yes, @featherhead007 does seem perilously close to starting a Rooster sanctuary… @Ponypoor we could (assuming I figure out a way to smuggle them across the border) always add Pangoo and your young guys to the shipment! Lol

I know your struggles @RebeccaBoyd the cockerel lottery favours me too! Not as much as my buddy who was absolutely convinced he had hatched 8 hens… I kept saying “I don’t know… sure there’s not a lot of Wattle there but those feather look suspiciously pointy” and this is how I got 6 jerks named sausage and Elios.

Yes, even culling and then donating to a raw dog food or such is better than that. Yes, the boys do fight… it happens, it is natural. Turning it into a spectator event, forcing it, encouraging it, and increasing the destructive capabilities of the animals natural features is absolutely disgusting. I am constantly (at this point) breaking up little fights among my far too many boys. Almost exclusively between the ones that were not raised within my flock, though. People are just awful. The cruelty charges should be much more stringent. I hope law enforcement and the prosecution focus on illegal gambling, tax evasion, and bribery charges etc instead, as they carry longer sentences. For that level of organization, infrastructure, etc to be established is unacceptable, and they should charge everyone involved. From spectators, to ticket sellers, and the people working the concession stand. Charge them all… I think the US justice system is a little excessive, in numbers in prison and some of the crimes punishable by prison sentences (decriminalize pot, make some more room in your jails for THESE people!)

Tax: Sammy and Roostie may not have gotten along, but Sammy raised up Roosties boy Chunk to be a polite, good little guy. Here he is with his Uncle Dean.

I am processing my three and gifting the meat to my sister's mother-in-law. She doesn't have an issue with roast chicken dinner like I do....

Do I owe any taxes (other then the stuff I owe cra?) Haha😏

I'm with you there that would be far less cruel. If I lived your side of the world I would be seeking in here to rehome the boy's

@RoyalChick

With my Agatha laying eggs with no shell I am using olive oil inside her vent as that seems a better option incase of any shells inside her. By the way I cannot feel any shell at all.
My question is would you think coconut oil would be better?

@anyone else if you can advise please

@alex Have you dealt with at similar problem?

I'm adding this question my thread as it's intended for health questions to be shared :)
