The article is about how they are encouraging people to eat white eggs instead of brown because white eggs are laid by hens that are less aggressive and therefore less likely to need their beaks trimmed.

Utter nonsense.

The more white eggs required the worse the living conditions will get, the more they will act out, and the more breaks will be trimmed

Outlaw the practice. Or require that any farmer who does it cut off the end of both of their index fingers.

Beak trimming is barbaric.

I couldn't agree more! Whether it improves living conditions or not, it is wrong all the way around. Barbaric.

I dunno. When I let mine out when we walk to the garden to dig together they love being out on grassy slopes. I think they would trade in a heartbeat.
Mine have a lot of safe, sheltered space but it is nothing like free range.
Incidentally mine don’t really get treats per se. they share my food. Well apart from bugs I find in the garden and things I grow more for them than me.
