Mine will jump onto something 4’ high but the won’t simply fly over that height if they can’t land. My electric fence is only 40” and they don’t try and fly over it, whereas they fly up 48” to roost.
So what you need is to fit a thin but visible wire a couple of inches above the fence so they know they can’t land on it.
I read of that trick somewhere on BYC but can’t for the life of me remember where.
Here’s the temporary fence. Permanent gate. 2984E32E-A062-4B50-B8A0-8F88CA80EE64.jpeg D2F9C831-A3C8-4155-B190-F99FEE36E694.jpeg

They don’t look at all too happy about that structure do they?
I think they are more curious, I am fairly certain they will be fine, if you think they need some entertainment you can put some roosts and tree branches or similar for them to climb on... Keep it away from the fence tho!!!

Wire mesh should keep them in. They can't easily hop up on that!

I like that mesh I think I will check on that.
They have scoped out the fence and gate, three times already. I have explained to them, that they have to stay inside the fence, because it’s dangerous on the other side of it. The highway is out there! And now, I can drive away without having to “chicken check” each time. Win win situation. :clap

They can climb all over my construction wood pile, and everywhere else in the yard. They don’t need to play in the driveway. :D

Yes that is a good plan, I need to do that also to keep my gals safe.

They sure do like to roam and run amok, and of course so enticing to run across the paddocks!
