I’ve been doing that daily for the last 4 1/2 years, I’ve decided enough is enough!

My big annoyance is when I forget to pick poops from the bottom neat box and three silkies all lay eggs there!!

Thank you. I've thought of this a lot, as I remember you said something similar then. I wonder, would I be trying to replace her out of guilt, or would it be in her honor? I think when it comes down to it the hen will be her own chicken and will show me a different personality, so I needn't worry. So it's definitely in my ideas for the future but there are some practical issues to solve first. Yes, secretly I want someone to show up with a Buff or two that need a new home....

I think that’s why I’ve never got another Barred Rock; too painful.

Rosie is on spring break this week. Last night we both repeatedly reminded her so hopefully there would be no waking us up in a panic at 5 am saying we missed the bus. It has happened several time lately. All I wanted was to be left alone until 8, not too much to ask. 6:30 this morning, pounding on my wall...."the chicks are hatching". 2 of the eggs have pipped. I've talked her into taking a nap as I don't expect anymore excitement until later this afternoon or evening. I did have to promise to wake her up if I thought they were close to hatching.

@LozzyR Any work from your Vet about environmental suggestions? It may be too soon...as I kinda lose track of time bouncing between trying to catch up on old & reading the new, so please forgive if I'm jumping the gun and seem impatient.

How are you holding up? She was such a beautiful girl.
