It is a windy day today.
I must admit that although I am beyond happy that the Hooligans have come out of their shell, the fact that they are roaming freely has me nervous as all hell.
Here is a windswept Bella keeping Bernadette company as she rests her leg sitting outside the Chicken Palace on the lid of one of the pasture runs. Please as always admire her very snazzy snakeskin boots, and just a hint of a green sheen!

Lulu is actually right under their feet inside the pasture run.
Is she attempting to recreate Marilyn's pose over the storm grate? Watch out, Minnie, Bella's aiming to give you competition on the ❤️ 🥰❤️ runway!!

(Hate to tell you this, Bella, but the wind was supposed to come from underneath, not behind!!!)

Bella is working on her pose for her glamor shot. I told her I need more green sheen (though to be fair she was in the shade).

So....I assume you have a local TSC? At least for the one here, it is not uncommon to have some 'older chicks' not bought...thew would be close to 2 weeks old, so old enough! Locally (in NE., anyways) all of TSC chicks come from Hoover Hatchery, & they do vaccinate..) just saying. Last year ! got 35 pullets (2 different groups) for my Hubbies friend. One group were starting to fly and got them for 10cents each. (they set of the alarms at night when they fly!)

You COULD let them know you are looking for older pullet chicks (at least a week old), explain to the Manager of Assistant manager), and need to be pullets. If they have any...would they give you a call? This year, my TSC have a version of Leghorn...just saying........;)
I do not beleive that Phyllis will accept week old chicks as having just hatched and I do not wish to take the chance that she would not. I do appreciate the thought. I got myself in trouble and wound up in this spot by trying to give Phyllis day old chicks. I am not willing to go down that road again.

I am really grateful for the good idea. Truly I am.

They look very content. I'm glad to see pictures of them outside living the chicken life. It's wonderful. 🥰

I stayed home, and didn’t attend church today. But they came out to me, and I got blackberry jam, homemade pecan pralines, (and for the chooks, the extra bread from communion, and….. meally worms! :celebrate)
Sounds like everyone won.

A Limping Lady

As you can see from this short video, Hattie is limping. I'm not certain what may have caused it but it is much like when Lilly was limping. I'm going to give her another day and then I may examine her and give her some metacam to relieve whatever inflammation she might have.
