@Kris5902 does: Robertson screws!

The ones available locally (deck/exterior screws, anyways) are hex-head screws.
So does @Ponypoor ! And did you know they are a Canadian invention? Some poor Canuck by the last name Robertson finally got fed up stripping Phillips and Flats and decided to try a square 😂 they are incredibly common here. But you can also get really nice “structural screws” for construction that are much closer to a nail in sheer strength comparatively that have those really awful star heads

I don’t have chicken taxes today, and I missed Sunday for emergency fencing so this will have to suffice. We have a name! Ciaran (Keer-an) literally crawled up and slept on my lap the other day, Sunday or Monday, I forget which… both days were pretty awful, but this made it better

Yesterday evening we started getting bombarded with phone calls. Everyone was panicking because her phone was busy. None of us would put it past her to put the phone off the hook, she's done it before when she does not want to talk to someone. My cousin's wife offered to go check on her, she was one of the ones who helped take her home. They beat on the door, she would not answer so she called and I told them where the spare key was. She was asleep on the couch. A mouse had chewed her phone line in half. While she was on the phone she checked her sugar, it was 375, and I told her how much insulin she needed. Grandma gave her the same argument she has been giving me that it was not time for her medicine and she did not need insulin. She finally got her to take her shot and went ahead since it was 10:30 to take her nighttime meds. Mom got on the phone and asked her if she was comfortable staying by herself with no phone, she was fine. Did she want us to come fix her phone today, nope stay away she would get the phone company out and we were not to call them either she would find a way. She called around 3 today and simply stated phone was fixed bye. Mom just called her to check on her and she said she's fine, watching tv and hung up. I have been receiving several calls today from her friends. As soon as her phone was fixed she has been calling everyone claiming she was not allowed to use the phone here, we were not giving her medication properly and she was held hostage and that she never wanted to see any of us again as long as she lived. You know, I did not think that woman could hurt me anymore then she already has in the last 3 months but I was wrong. Her friends know the truth, her brother has been keeping them all updated on how she really is. It is time Adult Protective Services get involved, and when that happens she truly will never talk to me again.

Stubborn and cranky and just obstinate. I’m sorry your family is facing this, but it does sound like there are at least more people getting involved in it now. Praying for a good outcome for all.

It's really humid here, I went out at midnight to check critters. The horses were ok, mosquitoes were surprisingly not too bad.

The chickies though were still warm in the hen house so I put the fan back on the timer till about 5am. I just checked them on the cam and they seem ok.

I have the say it was lovely out in the paddock at midnight watching hundreds of fire flies all lighting up and flying around 🤗

Sorry to hear this Rebecca, it's hard when they have their wits about them just enough to know what they want, but not enough to be safe living alone.

Keep us updated and anytime you want to chat you know how to get in contact - we are all here for you 💖

Our county in New York State has a "well check" service through the Office For The Aging when I worked there. I don't know if the elder person has to agree to it....Anyway somebody calls once each day, but when there's no answer they keep trying but also call one or more relatives they have on file, and if they can't get anyone they call the sheriff dept and those guys send over people to check on the person.
I like this program. This is probably very helpful to people.

I am so very very sorry that this burden has come to you. I am praying for you all.
