Oh man, Bob! That poor darling... I wonder if they reach just a bit too far for a sip... then slip..? I think it’s too inviting to resist..It's Too Hot, Too Hot Baby
I was in the house today watching girls ot the window when my wife came home with groceries. I went to help her bring then in and the next thing I know the flock is at the bank for squawking their heads off. I dash to the back door and only see 3 hens.
Aurora is missing.
I start to scan the yard as Maleficent runs toward the pool. As I follow her with my eyes, this is what I see.

Aurora decided to cool herself off in the pool today.
I scoop her out and grab a towel because she is shaking.

The others surround me bawking and looking up at her.
She takes a short nap and then wants down. She dries herself for a while and then she starts to shake again and lowers her butt and stands like a penguin, shaking.
I start to panic. Is she going into shock? Maybe I should put her back in the towel to keep her warm. I am getting up to gather her when this pops out of her.

Maleficent and Lilly attack intending to eat the egg. I scoop it up and take it in to show the wife.
Crazy, just a crazy few minutes. I guess I'll put out more oyster shell.

I just love how they all panic when something happens though...
In all likelihood she tried to fly over the corner of the pool and she did not make it. She flies over the pool all the time. Her and Maleficent think they are song birds or at least leghorns.![]()
Today i watched one of my bantam cochin kick n flap her self up in the air about 4 ft high and 10 ft long, i was rather impressed. Suposed to be a breed that Doesnt fly. Thought about you, i had just read the flight story, before the pool fiasco.
Sometimes they just think they are flyers. Others never try to fly.

Awwww. The second picture is so sweet!
Sounds like you might need to put a chicken ladder or ramp in your pool!
Speaking of eggs (congratulations by the way. Is that Aurora's first?)
Edwina laid her first egg today....guess what colour it is ?
