I know these fires are horrible but I’m just imagining the smell... yum! But I guess too much would be bad ... and those birds would drive me nuts.. almost as bad as the cicadas here.. you don’t get a minutes peace in the summer... but your chookies look lovely :)

Thanks! They are pretty sweet. Getting sick of the smoky smell though. :( Birds and cicadas you tune out after a while.

Cat and Mouse Games

I bragged about my 17lb killer norwegian forest cat on one of the threads we all share. I said of course he would kill any mice that dared to enter my house.

Sadly I must now say that is not so.

Apparently Davis has actually befriended the mice that now live in our house. How do I know that you might ask? I witnessed it first hand and have photographic evidence.

Exhibit #1 for the prosecution. Davis and one of his friends hanging out on our steps today.

Note: no mice were harmed in the taking of this photo!

Apparently it was my dearly departed Dr. Zoidberg who was the mouser.

I will have to trap and poison now. :(

Davis is lucky he is not on a viking ship right now. He would be swimming with the fishes!

That is the CUTEST thing I ever saw!

No need; Charlie got off herself and there was no egg. Chickie laid one though, then went off on a cacklecophony because she couldn’t see the other two! Do anyone else’s girls do that?

Mine make a lot of noise with their egg song, even if they haven't actually laid!
"I tried to lay an egg! I tried to lay an egg!"

I go rushing out and there's nothing there

Mine prefer dirty (what I call 'wild water) over any other kind. If you spill water they will run to it and drink it. I've never been able to figure it out.

My girls like to drink drops of water from the chicken wire after I've just refilled their bowls

So, life is a bit sepia at the moment, and we’re not anywhere near the fires. :(

We had sepia scenery for a while too, though I can actually see blue skies today :wee

Just as well you took some footage of your girls at the end there Lozzy, I was about to complain! ;)
