Mine prefer dirty (what I call 'wild water) over any other kind. If you spill water they will run to it and drink it. I've never been able to figure it out.

My cats may like the chicken bum-bum water best  (from egg cleaning when necessary); but the chickens will all go for the muddy puddle water, random rainwater in a bucket or lid, or some other “dirty” water source over the nice clean stuff in their waterers every time!
 :he
And the eggs wouldn’t need cleaning if we would just all please use the nest boxes and share? I swear I have “wetland chickens” that like the mud!

My son flew in for a visit - ten days - so I've been awol from some of the threads I really like. Sorry.

No need to apologize. You are missed but this is not a job, it's supposed to be fun. Catch up when you can. I excited that you got to spend time with your son. That's awesome.

Cat and Mouse Games

I bragged about my 17lb killer norwegian forest cat on one of the threads we all share. I said of course he would kill any mice that dared to enter my house.

Sadly I must now say that is not so.

Apparently Davis has actually befriended the mice that now live in our house. How do I know that you might ask? I witnessed it first hand and have photographic evidence.

Exhibit #1 for the prosecution. Davis and one of his friends hanging out on our steps today.

Note: no mice were harmed in the taking of this photo!

Apparently it was my dearly departed Dr. Zoidberg who was the mouser.

I will have to trap and poison now. :(

Davis is lucky he is not on a viking ship right now. He would be swimming with the fishes!

He would fit in with my incompetent mousers quite nicely! It’s a good thing I hunt cans for them or they would surely starve...

:goodpost:THANK YOU!
A most excellent soapbox and I agree 100%! Also...

Ok, please bear with me everyone, as I’m catching up again, while waiting for some paint and plaster to dry (literally!) so some of my comments may be a little stale... but on this one I couldn’t resist.

Paint and plaster? Should we be getting excited? :fl

I wish... I am working on a friend’s rental house; and dang it, he got a tentative agreement on it today for February... (also to some very nice people it will be perfect for, so I can’t complain too much). The way things have been looking I had inquired, even knowing who it was most likely going to (the people are pretty picky so they may still back out...) to stay positive though we are now in a fairly substantial credit situation with our propane bill! I should make up a little sign “will work for propane/gasoline”
