We were talking about night feeding a while back.
I mentioned about last thing before roosting feeding. These two are on their way to roost.
Because they are generally slim, even Fat Bird is slim compared to many of the chickens I see on BYC, the crop bulge is easy to see.
Pic quality isn't that great, but good enough to show what I mean.

@BY Bob thank you so much for that information - I will look into those. I am busy shoring up chicken run today but will hopefully order cameras by the weekend. I will have electricity in the chicken palace but don't have any yet and I am pretty sure my home wi-fi extends to the coop and run - I will check next time I am out there.
The fox came back 'for dessert' this morning but the guys helping me with the chicken palace shot at it with a paint gun so it ran off (with a blue tail). The chickens are confined to the coop today until a better run is in place. It was my RIR (Scary) that the fox took and the only evidence is a lone feather which I have saved as a keepsake. Poor Scary, she was always too adventurous for her own good.

I am very sorry about Scary. I would definately look into electrifying. Unfortunately it will keep coming back until it is dead or fully discouraged. I do love the paintball solution though. Good job by the guys helping you out.

Those are some mighty fine food boobs they've got going on! I personally like a larger, solid hen. The leghorn crosses I have are tiny and my huge roosters are a bit much for them. I really do love my orpingtons. The EE's are my second favorite, as far as size.

The two in the pics above are Marans and Old Englishish ;) Game crosses.
Given a choice I would keep Asils, or Fayuomies, maybe the Catalana del Pratt if eggs were important.

I was finally able to get an updated picture of BG the other day. He hatched May 28th, so he's not even a year old yet, but boy do I find him simply stunning!

His mom is my tiny Mille Fleur and his dad is my Silkie. I love the Mille Fleur coloring and personality, I just wish they were standard size.
He's a handsome chap.:)
