I've just shared a few posts with Nifty-Chicken on the update discussion thread about ads and I've been convinced that the ethics shaping byc are sound, so I paid for premium membership to cover my share of running the site and opt out of ads being served to me.
He's good at what he does. The online niche forum is quite difficult to make profitable, mainly because it is a niche and consequently isn't likely to attract the same amount of traffic that a general chat format like Facebook does.
Nifty has a few going, They all seem to be family orientated.

This is why I won't have the high production breeds & my poor man got a lecture when he started thinking about meat birds because I refuse to have CornishX on any property I own. What a thing to do to a bird! My poor man is still trying to recover from how calm & easily handled my girls are & goes round muttering that the usual methods of keeping chickens makes them psychotic. :D My birds are lots of things but psychotic they are not!

When I did a course on animal behaviour , with a view to training dogs, it included a unit on training a species other than dogs using positive reinforcement and operant conditioning. Our class was teaching pigs to touch targets but in previous years chickens were trained.

If you spend enough time with an animal one gets to know their ways and they yours. My girls all know the sound of the bin lid where the meal worms are kept!

My style exactly. I know what I like and I stick to it. I’m not in the mainstream workforce anymore so I only have to dress for myself and my chickens. :lau
I don’t have duplicates, per se, and I have been known to wear the exact same thing two days in a row. But I will draw the line at stinking. I don’t stink even wearing the same clothes. 🤔 But then again, I wonder what I’m comparing myself to? My chickens?:gig
I like the smell of chickens.

And I've heard a frequnetly set assignment for first year vet science students is "train a chicken to [do something] in six weeks."

And people ask me why I don't have a mobile phone and various other electronic;) gadgets.
I'm trying to buy things that don't erode my data privacy, but it's not always possible.

Actually, it's usually impossible.

That said, I did pretty well shopping for a robovac recently. It's not even on the internet. It doesn't have a camera. It doesn't make a map. As far as contemporary tech goes, it's as dumb as a brick and that's why I love it!

I'm sorry everyone. I was away today visiting my parents who have returned from my brother's in Florida.

I gave them a cabbage today

Perhaps I should read BYC when I'm not tired. I thought you were giving your parents a cabbage because you didn't have any free range eggs for them Bob.

The way my mind works :idunno
