Best of luck dear, please let me know if I can ever help.
You're a little far away from us. :) We've only had one kind of attack in 4 years, and that was a bald eagle. We have netting over the run now, so that shouldn't happen again. We also have electric wire around the run. It's not 100% secure, but we've been lucky so far. In March we'll be building Fort Knox. Have had to wait for DH to retire to get that job going.

:D yes ma'am i remember when we looked at shipping eggs all the way to you :D i ment pred knowledge wise. Ive studied :)

Govt work blows thats a fact. Maybe theres an office you could bring it to to 'meet them halfway?'

Im glad were having these discussions and everyone will know what to do in the worst case scenario if you havent faced this yet.

I didnt tell anyone here on purpose, but i took a trapping workshop on Dec 7th, and an online class before that, all strictly for the birds welfare.

Very smart to take a course. My Dad used to trap for furs as a young lad (different times) I am hoping he still remembers some tricks of the trade.

Oh haha....I remember that. I thought you were in South Los Angeles. I thought it was a weird way to describe Long Beach, or that area. You can get the girl out of California, but can you get the California out of the girl??? I ended up getting eggs from Florida, and only one hatched. That's my Pippi, a cockerel of course.

I be d*mned if ima have it happen here again. I also wanted to learn to do it right so the culprit doesnt suffer. Lastly so i can learn to use all the parts that remain.

I had a family of 4 coons take down 15 birds in 3 days. Theyd come, tear into the coop, we would fix that hole, they'd come the next night and tear into it again. My DH finally got one and they didnt come back.

That's horrible! I'm glad you finally drove them off.

You wouldnt like anything i have to say about weasels :( sorry, thats why ive stayed clear of that one. Wiley creatures who are viscous once trapped and idk if theyll even stay put in a 1x1 have a hart trap.

It was so bad. :hit That was as the hiatus began after the flood of 2016. My whole Bresse breeding flock plus a couple of extra gals who lived there just to keep pressure off my breeding girls. Made me almost give em all up for awhile. I sold off and only kept three girls after that then throughout my pregnancy. For those of you who watched the gnat fiasco unfold :hit :rant that was the frizzle hen, id kept her past all that through all that to loose her to bugs :he Mr Bob im pretty sure you didnt see that. That was 42 losses in 5 days back last April. Mrs Val and Mr Shad i know saw it.

I love Pippi Longshot. Can't wait until he gets through this hormonal stage and can be with the girls. My hope is I wont have to hatch any chicks, or raise any chicks any more. Also have a Lavender Orp cockerel and 2 LO pullets. Hoping I can get more of those from them.

But for now, it's 4 coops and segregation.
