The Trouble with Beards

I know that occasionally I get soup or whipped cream from a fancy coffee in my mustache. I can usually lick it out with my tongue and wipe with a napkin. Easy clean up.

I have never had a beard but I am reasonably certain that the benefits of Aurora's beard (warm wattles for example) outweigh the downside. But with no hands to help, her beard got her in a sticky situation today.

Yes that is spaghetti hanging from her beard! She walked around like that for quite a while today. Lilly tried to help her but she was afraid Lilly was trying to actually peck her and kept bouncing away.

It remained on her beard for some time. She tried eating it herself, shaking her head, even scratching it with her foot, still the pasta clung to her beard.

Hysterical.

Now you've got to post again telling us the name of each hen.

Haha! I would have if I could figure out how to post a name with a pic.. sorta know how but it sure gets messed and jumbled up when trying to do it.. ... just when I had figured out how to do that before they changed everything..... anyway.. I’ll get some more pics when the weather is nicer and I’ll post separately as did micstrachan.. it’s nicer and easier to remember them that way..

Yes that is spaghetti hanging from her beard! She walked around like that for quite a while today. Lilly tried to help her but she was afraid Lilly was trying to actually peck her and kept bouncing away.

No digging anywhere. I wonder what it was up to? I am going to try and deploy a yard wide camera tonight to see if I can see patterns of behavior from that.

That's good news. But, also a dilemma. What to do with Pepe Le Pew?

Agreed. That way all you can do is lay around the house and watch it snow.

I wish! Snow make chicken land so much more work for me!!

We are supposed to get some snow Wednesday night into Thursday, could be several inches.
I know what snow is like, I really don't need to see any more - 72 winters on this planet - the last couple were mild and less snow that normal. But who knows???

I do not know how I can safely remove a skunk in a suburban neighborhood without angering everyone. I may just have to continue armoring the run.

We had a skunk family a few years ago and my husband did catch and release . Risky business, but it worked without anyone or anything g getting sprayed. My dog, on the other hand, has not been so lucky and has been sprayed twice.
