Hi, folks. Just popping in… I’ve missed this group & thread. I’ve been feeling really lousy, and working really hard since I work for the public school system. Today I stayed home sick, but we just announced school closures.

The flock is still doing well... hard eggs from Dorothy and Ruby keeps doing well. Lots of poopy bums all around, so I’m not sure what’s going on there.
Welcome back! Sorry you have been under the weather! Get well soon!

As for the poopy bums, I think that is something you might want to investigate with the good folks in the ER. I had a little of that going on and ended up with one of my hens in sick bay for 5 days. She made it. She was treated with antibiotics and when a float test came back with coccidiosis, I switched to treating her for that. She has been back out with the flock for a couple days now, and yesterday laid an egg. But I noticed tonight she isn't feeling her best again. I'll be keeping an eye on her. I could not have figured it out without the good folks in the ER Forum, and I may be back in there tomorrow. I'll see what she is like in the morning.

Knocks chicks are at an age and size now to want to roost with the adults. I've seen two of them wedged between Notch and the coop wall on a couple of nights now when I've done my night rounds.
All three has a look in the spare coop so I think they're getting the hint from the adults that it's time to move out (This is what the spare coop was built for).
I'm going to rearrange the roost bars in Tribe 3's coop to see if I can encourage them to stay.
These are the chicks. I male and two females I believe.

Feel better soon. :hugs I’ve got poopy butts too, can’t do much at the moment (plus it’s raining today!) Hopefully they can sort themselves out!

Thanks so much. I thought she was over this. I haven't even finished the Corid treatment, but if she is not well tomorrow I'll be giving her antibiotics again. At this point I don't know which was helping her. I'm glad I never took sick bay down. It's ready for her to come back if need be.

I went back to look at your set up again. That's very clever what you did there. Nice job!

Thanks! I’ve got six temporary fence panels that have been super useful. I wove some chicken wire around them at the bottom and attached it. They were bought to keep the girls off certain patches of grass whilst I poisoned the weeds, but I’ve decided I don’t want chemicals anywhere in the back yard. Instead they’ve been useful in keeping the girls out of places for other reasons and making little enclosures for new girls. There are two panels in the run that I put Chickie behind when she has breakfast and dinner, to stop Lucy and Charlie eating the food out from under her. I divided the run in two with the panels for a couple of weeks when I was integrating Charlie and Bessie. When Charlie goes broody, I sit the cage of shame on the fence panels propped up on bricks so the air circulates underneath. Really useful!

I have been wanting to do this for some time now. I knew once I started doing this there would be no going back. So I am now diving in and I hope you all enjoy coming along for the ride.

First of all let me tell you how we view our flock as that will help you to understand why we treat them like we do.

Our birds are our pets and we treat them as such. We do not care if someone is not laying eggs. They are welcome to stay at Fluffy Butt Acres until they pass naturally. (Now don't go telling them that! I would hate for word to get out) We do thoroughly enjoy the fresh eggs.

I plan to tell stories from the past as well as from today. I hope you all enjoy and will share stories of your flocks as well.
Wow i did that up right, very nice!

It’s really awful when your chooks are sick and you just can’t make it go away!
