Aside from T-Rex of course
T-Rex may always be a loner. I have one of those. Lucy. She has lost all of her original flock mates, and although she doesn't completely avoid everyone else, she tends to be off on her own most of the time. She and I share a kindred grief spirit. :love

Aurora's worst side has come out since Maleficent's passing. It is clear she is not doing well without Mal. :(

It is a process for them. They do grieve. I watched that last June after the eagle attack. Sorry if I'm repeating myself here, but I literally lost one of my original flock 3 days later from what I can only contribute to shock. Lucy has never been the same. She stepped down from top hen position, because she just isn't interested, but woe be to anyone who thinks they can outright challenge her. On the other hand, when I needed to integrate Alice and Abby, I knew I could trust Lucy to give them space in her coop.

I'm sorry that you went through all of that. That would be awful. :hugs

Aurora has resorted to what she was like as a young pullet. She was very nasty and pecky and very mean to Maleficent. The best thing that happened to the flock was that Maleficent started laying first and passed her in the pecking order. Maleficent was able to calm her down. There is nothing to contain her now if Lilly or Hattie don't step in.
:(

I had hoped she would make a new friend. That doesn't look like it is going to happen. I'm afraid I will regret not getting another EE.

I believe I've had grieving chickens here.
