I'm going to let things play out for a while. No one has actually been hurt. I'm hoping that just maybe Sydney can bridge the gap.

It's raining pretty hard now. All the hens are in the coop, BeeBees buddy/sister Sunshine, was looking frantically for her. That was sad for me to watch.
Losing a bird changes the pecking order too.

That is exactly what grief looks like in hens. And pensiveness. Don't be surprised if someone starts looking "depressed", whatever that is in chickens. So sorry!!!

His name was Doo. As you have noted, it is always our favorites who get taken. He was taken by a hawk not so long ago. The recent conv re safety vs freedom hits close to home. I come down to not wanting to keep my birds prisoner....

Hi yall.. today I was out in the chicken yard and saw Daffy.. one of my EEs... she was walking very strangely and her sisters.. the other two EEs were with her.. and I figured out that she was trying to lay an egg.. so I proceeded to try to keep the other chickens away from her because when they saw her walking like that they wanted at her... and I believe she is very well bottom of the flock so I didn’t want them to harass her while she was laying... well, a few of them made it around me and what really happened was it was like they were just getting around her as to protect her from me ... interesting! And then she dropped this paper thin egg...... it also had no color to it... it is usually blue..
