Well, some worrying news from my neck of the woods.

Three people in the Blue Mountains have tested positive for Parrot Fever (Psittacosis). It is carried by the native parrots and pigeons and can be transmitted to people and chickens. It can be fatal to them.
The chicken symptoms include sneezing, runny eye and green poo. I don't know if people get the green poo... 🤔

The article I read says not to kiss your birds. How will we manage? 😭
I will never stop kissing my birds, even if (pain of death) may occur!:fl

It's tomorrow, so...As of last night ...The roos were fighting with Jaffar. My friends decision to buy the Texas house fell thru. Connie wanted to have me over again, but it was late, and I don't eat sweets or drink coffee after 19;00hrs. to get more feed today, for the chickens.(some fresh feed) Around 21:00hrs, I heard ambulances, police, and fire trucks pass by on the highway. We normally don't get much action around here, but some driver killed a kid on a bicycle, and just drove off. I hope that satisfies your interests in why I said it was gonna be a "Weird day"
Strangely, I always have some sixth sense about events before they happen. :idunno
That is more than weird! That is horrific! So sad!

Hang in there Lozzy. Some days are just the pits for no readily apparent reason. I still have bad ones too, but not as often since my meds started working.

I hope you will wake up feeling better tomorrow :hugs

How is River going? Is she enjoying the yogurt and ACV in her water?

I’m waiting for mine to kick in so it could still be a couple of weeks.

So I scrambled River an egg the other day and mixed a bit of Greek yoghurt through it. I separated her from the other four; she had one little beakful and ignored the rest! When I let the other four out of the run, they wolfed it down! She watched them so I’m hoping that told her it was edible. And yesterday I watched her actually eat wood shavings! :barnie I’ve read that can give them an impacted crop, how on earth do I stop her doing that?!

New Ways to catch my Attention

I've written here about how patient Hattie is when I'm eating. Normally she quietly stands next to my chair staring at me until I give her some of what I'm eating. Well she tried something new today.

It was a sunny day today and it was almost warm enough to eat outside, so I did. That drew a crowd. I think Hattie was getting bumped too much so she found another place to wait she no one would bother her. Check it out.

She foisted under the table and waited. I could see her through the glass table top. It was weird putting my fork on top her head. :gig

So of course I rewarded this silly behavior with first dibs on my plate.

What a sweetheart. :love

Pigeons keep going into the run as the gate is being left open. :(

Lozzy.. I hope you are feeling well soon :hugs ... I know just how rough that can be...

It's been a disgusting day weather wise. The mist from the night rain hardly got off the ground.
Every time I went to do something outside it poured.
On the bright side Fat Bird appeared this morning and decided that spending the day with me was her best option. She spent a lot of the day sat by my feet as I worked on the lamps with occasional forays to the food tray and some halfhearted begging when I ate.
Tap and Moon came and went. Treacle came by for his cuddle of course. He was soaked.:(
Tribe 1 went off to roost at least two hours earlier than usual.
I carried Fat Bird home at dusk.
